Monstera

  • Water thoroughly when the top 2-4 inches of soil are dry; avoid soggy soil.

  • Bright, indirect light: Place near a window but not in direct, harsh sun, which can scorch leaves.

More light = more splits: Sufficient light encourages the development of their signature holes (fenestrations).

  • Not Pet Safe

    • Toxic Components: All parts of the plant contain sharp calcium oxalate crystals.

    • Symptoms: Ingestion leads to severe mouth pain, swelling of the throat/tongue, drooling, vomiting, and potential difficulty breathing.

  • Feed monthly during growing seasons (spring/summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer; reduce or stop in winter.

  • Monsteras love humidity (50%+); mist leaves or use a humidifier. Brown leaf edges can signal low humidity.
